Avago Released 40 Gigabit QSFP+
December 3, 2010Avago Technologies launched a four-channel parallel optic QSFP+ transceiver module for 40 Gigabit Ethernet applications. The AFBR-79E4Z QSFP+ transceiver modules enable data communication and interconnect applications that integrate four independent 10 Gigabit per second (Gbps) data lanes in each direction. The pluggable modules also provide an alternative to copper interconnects for switch and router connections, data aggregation systems and backplane applications.
FarEasTone selects Transmode for Taiwan optical metro networks
December 2, 2010Transmode says that FarEasTone, Taiwan's largest mobile service provider, has deployed a new TM-Series Intelligent WDM (iWDMTM) metro network in Taipei. The optical network infrastructure will be used for fixed network traffic.

Maine Fiber Company selects nextGen Telecom Services Group
November 30, 2010Maine Fiber Company Inc. has selected nextGen Telecom Services Group Inc. as the prime network infrastructure construction contractor for the Three Ring Binder project. The project is an 1,100-mile, fiber-optic network spanning 100 Maine communities, encompassing 110,000 households, 600 schools, libraries, and other anchor community institutions, and 38 government facilities. NextGen has also been selected by Maine Fiber Company Inc. to provide on-going maintenance and emergency restoration services.
