March 15, 2012Cosemi Technologies, Inc. has announced the availability of its LB43-0102-xx-1 SuperTIA-PIN bi-directional optical subassembly (BOSA) for GPON Class B+ optical network termination (ONT) applications. The company positions the BOSA as an alternative to more costly avalanche photodiodes (APDs).
Australia Japan Cable adds 40-Gbps capabilities via Ciena
March 15, 2012Australia Japan Cable (AJC) will use the 6500 Packet Optical Platform from Ciena Corp. (NASDAQ: CIEN) to bump per-channel transmission rates to 40 Gbps, the systems provider announced today. The subsea cable system spans approximately 12,700 km between Sydney, Guam, and Japan.
