Dell'Oro: Demand for 40-Gbps DWDM up 60%

While the first quarter of 2012 was disappointing for optical network hardware sales according to several sources, at least one segment dodged the raindrops. Dell’Oro Group says in its newly released 1Q12 Optical Transport report that demand for 40-Gbps DWDM in the quarter increased nearly 60% year-over-year.

Bad first quarter for optical network hardware sales, says Ovum

Putting an exclamation mark on market figures Infonetics Research announced last week, Ovum says that optical network (ON) hardware sales in the first quarter of 2012 showed a year-over-year decline of 9%. This is the first such year-on-year decline for the space in almost two years, says Ovum in its recently released Market Share Alert: 1Q12 Global ON.
