USCarrier Telecom improves network in Georgia
Wholesale long-haul optical transport services provider USCarrier Telecom has finished an overbuild of its network from Savannah to Macon, GA, using Z-Series packet-optical transport platforms from Cyan. The upgrade touches five points of presence along the route.
The overbuild took two nights and did not require an interruption in service. The upgrade will provide an express route from South Carolina and Florida to Atlanta, cutting the transit mileage across USCarrier's SONET network in half and creating the ability to provide native Ethernet and Ethernet Exchange across these locations.
"The upgrade to USCarrier's SONET network will sustain the evolving network demands the company is facing and position USCarrier to offer these additional, cost-effective services," said Joaquin Luna, president of USCarrier Telecom. "Once again the USCarrier team has not only met but exceeded these demands, and I am pleased to work with these talented professionals."
USCarrier has now completed two-thirds of its planned overbuild projects throughout its four-state network. The remaining upgrades to the network are planned for the next 12 months.
