Transmode adds 80G Ethernet muxponder to native packet optic...
Transmode has introduced the EMXP II 80, an 8x10G Layer 2 Ethernet muxponder, as part of its Native Packet Optical portfolio to further address applications such as Ethernet aggregation, mobile backhaul, video distribution, and business Ethernet services.
The new EMXP II 80 muxponder is available as part of Transmode's TM-Series Release 16, which will be released this month. This addition extends the EMXP II family that was introduced in June 2010 (see "Transmode unveils more Native Packet Optical products for Ethernet transport"). Transmode's EMXP II family is designed to address transport Ethernet applications within the Native Packet Optical architecture and provide competitive advantage to operators in areas such as low latency and SyncE support.
"Our Native Packet Optical architecture and the EMXP II family in particular, is proving to be very popular with customers and prospects, with roll outs in networks in Europe and North America for applications such as mobile backhaul and regional Ethernet services," said Sten Nordell, CTO at Transmode. "The new EMXP II 80 extends the capabilities for Layer 2 Ethernet to higher capacity networks and the unit is already running in customer labs ready for certification and rollout early in 2011."
