InfoRelay selects Ekinops to link Washington, DC data centers

Data center provider InfoRelay has deployed the Ekinops 360 optical transport platform to interconnect multiple data centers and co-location facilities in the Washington, DC area, according to the optical systems vendor. The initial deployment will provide transport for Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and 10G LAN services over a high-capacity fiber-optic infrastructure.

Swisscom intends fiber to the street expansion

July 1, 2012

Incumbent operator Swisscom is planning to provide homes and businesses outside the major urban centers with ultra-high-speed internet connections using fiber to the street (FTTS). At the end of 2013, Swisscom will start to roll out optical fiber to within a distance of around 200 m from homes, bringing it significantly closer to the customer.
