New Pressure-Tolerant BiDirectional Transceiver
PD-LD, Inc. introduces a new pressure-tolerant version of its 1x9-packaged bidirectional transceiver. This transceiver features an epoxy sealing and filling treatment that preserves performance in environments with pressures of up to 8500 psi. Because pressure resistance is created internally, the transceiver does not require an external pressure-resistant cover or capsule, dramatically expanding its versatility within high-pressure environments.
"Presently, this device is being used for the control and maneuvering of unmanned deep-water vehicles," said PD-LD Executive Vice-President of Sales, Tom DeBerardine, "By providing a two-way communication link that continues to perform under high pressure, this new transceiver helps maximize the performance of these vehicles in challenging deep-sea conditions."
This transceiver's potential applications extend beyond high-pressure situations, says PD-LD Chief Technical Officer Dr. Boris Volodin. "The epoxy sealant and filling ruggedizes these transceivers, and can maintain performance in environments featuring exposure to liquids and chemicals," he added, "Currently, we are exploring potential applications beyond deep-water uses, such as industrial manufacturing and aerospace."
