MITEQ provides 43.7-Gbps modulator driver amplifier
MITEQ Inc. has introduced the Model AMFOD-30K450, a Mach-Zehnder optical modulator driver. The device is targeted at Lithium Niobate optical modulators for OC-768 long-haul fiber-optic communications applications.
The driver has an output drive voltage of up to 8 V with 30 dB of small signal gain, flat up to 40 GHz with a frequency cutoff at 80 kHz. It’s hermetically sealed package is 0.31-in. thick by 0.65-in. wide by 1.2-in. long, with straight or bent pin options. GPPO connectors provide input and output, with a separate GPPO input for the balanced input termination.
For digital stream input, the eye zero crossing at the output can be adjusted from 40% to 70%. RMS additive jitter is less than 750 fs with rise and fall times of better than 8 ps. Both input and output port VSWRs are better than 10 dB.
The Model AMFOD-30K450 is fully compliant with relevant standards and provides reliable operation from -40°C to +85°C, MITEQ says. The device draws about 380 mA from a supply of 6 V to 8 V.
