Digital Lightwave OTN and Ethernet sales exceeded forecasts

Digital Lightwave Inc., a provider of optical networking test equipment and technology, announced that its sales of optical transport network (OTN) and Ethernet test equipment exceeded all company forecasts throughout 2010.

Tony Goodchild, director of product management and marketing, credits global deployments of OTN networks and ongoing growth in Ethernet demand around the world for the company’s “sequential quarterly revenue growth in 2010 that exceeded the company's expectations."

Ongoing evolution of the technology standards is turning OTN into an enabling technology for service providers by allowing them to deliver packet-based services, such as Ethernet, says a representative.

Robert Hussey, CEO, adds: “Digital Lightwave has enjoyed strong operating profits during 2010 fueled by our increasing OTN and Ethernet sales. We expect our ongoing R&D activities for 40G and 100G products supporting these technologies to further enhance our product offering in both the OTN and Ethernet segments, which will power the company's growth throughout 2011."

Digital Lightwave's NIC product supports testing of OTN networks from 2.6Gb/s to 43Gb/s and Ethernet networks from 10Mb/s to 10Gb/s as well as SONET/SDH, NGN, PDH, and Fibre Channel networks.
