Sidera extends fiber network to data centers of RagingWire

One of the key considerations in choosing Sidera was that it had a route that bypasses the busy Washington, D.C. corridor, ensuring it can reduce network latency for its customer base.

"Sidera offers connectivity to most of the major metropolitan areas on the East Coast, as well as Chicago and London, with low latency and the ability to bypass those metropolitan congestion points if necessary," said Dan Golding, vice president and general manager of RagingWire's Virginia data center in a release about the agreement.   

Like many data center providers, RagingWire has been building out sizeable data facilities, and its 140,000-square foot facility with 2N+1 redundancy is an example of that effort.

However, to better serve its customer base it needs higher speed connectivity to its facility from other service providers like Sidera and other larger brands such as AT&T (NYSE: T), CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL), Verizon Business (NYSE: VZ), and tw telecom (Nasdaq: TWTC).

Providing fiber connectivity to data center providers has become growing trend among both incumbent service providers and competitive carriers like Sidera. Since these are reciprocal relationships, the data center provider can extend that carrier's connections and services to its clients, while the fiber provider gets an additional revenue source for its network.
