Extended Reach of Fiber Optic Cabling

Panduit has introduces the Signature Core Fiber Optic Cabling System. The multimode fiber communications product line is designed to improve reach and design flexibility by compensating for both modal and chromatic dispersion to deliver optical performance and signal integrity beyond 10/40/100 Gigabit Ethernet and 8/16-Gbps Fibre Channel standards requirements.
 

Panduit Laboratories developed the standards-compliant Signature Core Fiber Optic Cabling System using what Panduit describes as “a fundamentally more sophisticated algorithm than previously employed” to model the effects of modal and chromatic dispersion. The revised model, the resulting compensation algorithm, and the overall performance of the Signature Core Fiber Optic Cabling System have been validated by internal testing as well as with system partners, Panduit asserts.

By minimizing total dispersion, the Signature Core Fiber Optic Cabling System exceeds the performance of competing products, Panduit adds. The company demonstrated 275 m of 100GBase-SR10 operation at Ixia Corp.’s iSimCity lab in Santa Clara from September 14-16, 2010.

With the Signature Core Fiber Optic Cabling System, customers can now use multimode fiber where they may have previously had to use singlemode fiber, Panduit concludes.
