China Telecom deploys Huawei's SDN technology
April 23, 2014Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. and the Beijing branch of China Telecom (Beijing Telecom for short), report that they have commercially deployed software-defined network (SDN) technology in the operator’s Internet Data Center (IDC) networks. Beijing Telecom also unveiled a range of new data center services based on the SDN software developed by Huawei.
LG Uplus to use OTN for LTE-A CPRI backhaul

Huawei says that South Korean mobile services provider LG Uplus will use its equipment to create a mobile backhaul network based on WDM and Optical Transport Network (OTN) for common public radio interface (CPRI) backhaul on LG Uplus's LTE-A network. The CPRI-over-WDM/OTN approach enables pooled baseband processing for distributed base stations, which saves fiber resources and improves network reliability, Huawei says.

The introduction of this new hot pluggable technology enables service providers, healthcare institutions, universities, and enterprises to optimize their network by virtually doubling their fiber plant and extending the life of their network without the expense of running new fiber, the company asserts.

Enablence Technologies seeks bridge funding
