Connecticut communities combine for gigabit broadband RFQ

Managed hosting provider i3D.net deploys MRV's OptiDriver
August 29, 2014Optical transport systems vendor MRV Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: MRVC) says has supplied its OptiDriver optical packet transport platform to i3D.net, a managed hosting provider. I3D.net will use the packet-optical transport system to increase its capacity into Amsterdam up to 400 Gbps.
Telefonica, Brocade benchmark NFV deployment and performance

Service provider Telefónica (NYSE: TEF) and Brocade (NASDAQ: BRCD) say they have combined to create benchmarks for the deployment and performance of Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) enablers. The benchmarks, that the partners assert will significantly change service provider expectations for virtualized, software-based network performance, are the result of testing the companies performed within the Telefónica NFV Reference Lab framework.

OIF focuses 400-Gbps efforts
July 31, 2014The Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) has set aside a project to define a line-side 400-Gbps transponder, the group’s leadership informed analysts and press at an event held in Boston yesterday afternoon. Working groups will instead focus on the creation of a 400-Gbps framework document as well as ongoing work in the area of electrical interfaces.
